Hitachi Home Electronics announced Monday that it has launched a new Web site for sales of its Blu-ray camcorders, specifically the DZ-BD10HA. The site is located at www.hitachibd.com. If this issue appears a little slanted toward LCD TVs, you’re not wrong, though the slant was accidental, not intentional. That said, US consumers also seem to be slanting toward LCD TVs over their plasma cousins. Recent data show that LCD TVs are gaining significant market share on plasma and a JD Power study even shows that electronics retailers tend to recommend LCD more than plasma. If you had asked me if this was possible two years ago, I would have thought it unlikely. First, being a more mature TV technology, plasma has historically been cheaper, per inch, than LCD. Hitachi on Monday announced a new camcorder that can record onto the Blu-ray Disc format. The DZ-BD10HA is the company’s latest Blu-ray Disc Hybrid Camcorder, and can record onto Blu-ray Disc, hard drive and SDHC formats. The camcorder comes equipped with 7 mega pixel CMOS image sensor and Full HD capability, as well as one-touch dubbing, which can transfer video from the drive or SDHC card to a Blu-ray Disc. Also available is face-detection capability. The new camcorder is capable of recording up to 8 hours and 40 minutes of 1440x1080 video, and 4 hours and 20 minutes of 1920x1080 video.
