Phiaton PS 200
Review: Phiaton PS 200 Earphones
February 19, 2009 From Product Reviews
Phiaton, a newcomer to the market, now offers a high-end upgrade to your old earphones. The company's first product was a finely wrought set of over-the-head cones, which we found to deliver clean, well-balanced sound and atypical comfort. The company’s latest offering, the PS 200, is a set of earphones with an asking price of $250.

Denon Going For #1 in 2008
May 2008 From News
“Boundless Entertainment” was the theme of the 2008 Denon line-show press conference held in Laguna Beach, Calif. on Tuesday. Joe Stinziano, Senior VP President for Sales and Marketing kicked things off with a Denon Review and moved forward with the resounding message, “to establish Denon as the number one A/V receiver brand in the US.” Indeed, a key driver for the company is to “reinforce the A/V receiver as the core of the networked home,” and with that in mind the company introduced ten new, advanced audio/video receivers to prove that mission. The ten are designed to give consumers simple, powerful and more

Disc Wars
March 2008 From E-Gear
Note: Hours before this issue was being finalized at the printer, news came out that Toshiba may be ending production of HD DVD players and possibly withdrawing from the high definition disc market. Toshiba had not made a final decision as we went to press. Some changes have been made in this article to reflect the most recent events. Upcoming disc releases may also change as a result of this news. A long, long, time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a group of engineers and marketing executives gathered around a table to design the ultimate weapon in the fight against Friday

CEDIA: At Feet’s End
CEDIA: At Feet’s End
September 10, 2007 From Greg Robinson
As a preface, let me just say that my feet hurt and I’m starting to get cranky. At least I can stretch out in coach tonight on my flight home. Ugh. Also, I would like to offer a suggestion to the many exhibitors on the CEDIA show floor: you are absolutely permitted and, dare I say encouraged, to show footage from something other than Pirates of the Carribean. I’m just sayin’.Here are some of the highlights from my third day at CEDIA Expo 2007:Boston AcousticsNow here’s something that should be popular with some folks. If you’ve been wanting a subwoofer

Denon 5805CI A/V Receiver
Denon 5805CI A/V Receiver
August 2007 From Product Reviews
You’ve probably noticed that with the increased sophistication of home theaters purchasing an A/V Receiver has become a daunting process. There is just so much to consider. How much amplification is enough? Do I want a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system? Will there be enough digital video and audio inputs for future growth? Can I run separate zones for whole-house audio? Are all the latest technologies and features included or am I going to be hatin’ life next year when the new models roll out? Is there anything new on the horizon I should wait for? If you’ve been putting off making a purchase

“300” Sets Hi-Def Disc Record
HD DVD/Blu-ray Review: 300
August 2007 From DVD Reviews
The high definition discs of the film adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel 300 are nearly as controversial as the film was when it was in theaters. That’s because Warner opted to put it out in both Blu-ray and HD DVD versions- without making both version equal. The situation is kind of like the classical battle of 300 itself—the powerful Blu-ray alliance of Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Pioneer, Denon, plus all the movie studios (except Universal) vs the smaller, yet better armed and more cunning HD DVD force of Toshiba. The movie itself is visually impressive in both formats. In fact I could
