In a move to encourage customers to upgrade from Windows XP, Microsoft announced Friday that it will cut the price of boxed editions of the Vista operating system.
The AP reported that the cut will affect the Home Premium and Ultimate versions of the software, but will not apply to preloaded versions on PCs.
The software giant did not reveal the amount of the cut, and will take place in March to coincide with the launch of the first Vista service pack.
