The offer covers purchases of Toshiba’s HD-A2, HD-A20, and HD-XA2 players, and allows users to choose any three from a list of 55 HD DVD movies offered by Amazon.com (in addition to five of the 15 offered as part of the Toshiba promotion.) The movies chosen are shipped from Amazon along with the new player, while the movies from Toshiba arrive via mail-in rebate.
The HD-A2 player, which retails on the site for $226, is now the highest-selling consumer electronics product on Amazon, the Web site TVPredictions.com reported Wednesday.
Releases covered by the promotion include, among others, 300, 12 Monkeys, 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Big Lebowski, The Departed, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Field of Dreams, Goodfellas, Purple Rain, and Unforgiven.
The promotion began on Monday and continues through Sept. 23.
