NBC Universal and 20th Century Fox have finally announced the name of the online-content site they plan to launch this fall: Hulu. Dow Jones reported on the announcement Wednesday.

The new site, first announced in the spring, was originally set to launch in September, but now the companies say a test version will launch in October. It will feature content from various media properties owned by NBC, Fox, their television networks, and movie studios, as well as various other content partners. The site has been said to have a user-generated component, as well as the ability to download the content to portable devices.

The companies also launched a Web site, Hulu.com, which invites those interested in participating in the beta launch to enter their e-mail address.
