Review: JVC iPod TV

What’s On Dock?

Listening to music through the JVC speakers made for a louder experience and one that seems better in comparison to an iPod “boom box”. That’s probably because you can intensify the sound through the virtual surround or make other audio adjustments. But there’s no album art to look at onscreen, as only song/album/playing time is displayed. Videos can take up most but not the entire screen; with files I had ripped myself looking better than those rented/bought from iTunes. In general I found that the smaller “Mini-mode” screen versions seemed to improve the overall “look” of movies, such as The Bank Job, by minimizing artifact and blurring problems. Being able to tweak the picture using the JVC’s video menu was a definite plus also.

Since the iPod charges in the dock, it’s a good place to leave it till the next time you want to watch or till it’s time to go. Besides, how many iPod “accessories” do you know of that come with a 42-inch screen? yy

the tv is great for HD video, but when it comes to gaming it gets stiff on 720p when the games are 1080i, I havent tried FullHD games, but that is because there are only a few, but still for watching FullHD video is a great screen...

I got the same message with my iPhone until I upgraded to the 2.1 software for the iPhone. After the iPhone software update the operation with my TV actually improved. You can view photos from the iPods, but you have to select the photo menu on the iPod first. After that you can control with the TV remote. The coolest thing is that I can play music and have the TV video at the same time.
