Are you ready for an hour without tech? The people behind Earth Hour are.
The worldwide event, scheduled for Saturday, is organized by the World Wildlife Fund and encourages people all over the world to turn off their electronics, lighting, and all non-essential technologies for one hour.
The turn-off is scheduled to take place at 8:30 p.m., in whatever time zone the participant happens to be located. Such landmarks as the Empire State Building, Sears Tower and Golden Gate Bridge will have their lights turned off in honor of the event.
Earth Hour began in Australia in 2007, and is celebrated every March 28. It is not to be confused with Earth Day, which is April 22.
