This media player allows you to load files onto a portable external hard drive via your PC, then slide that external drive into the Seagate media
player for viewing on your TV. It also allows you to transfer photos directly from a digital camera. It's really as simple as connecting a DVD or Blu-ray player to your TV.
I invited a few family members over to view photos and videos of past family functions that have been sitting on a computer's hard drive for a long time. I was always too lazy to transfer them from the computer until I was able to review this cool device. It's really amazing how different it is showing people photos and videos on TV as opposed to the computer, especially when your family members are viewing your great memories. The included remote control was a real help in that it allowed me to easily navigate through and play my files. I was a little disappointed at the fact there was no HDMI output, considering this is basically the standard for viewing high end audio and video in one connection.
The Seagate Theater supports a variety of different file types, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (AVI/VOB/ISO/MKV), MPEG-4 (AVI/DivX/Xvid), Dolby 5.1 digital surround sound, MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG and JPEG. The FreeAgent Theater can be purchased as either a standalone media player with the remote control at an MSRP of $129.99, or with the choice of either a 250GB (The capacity I used for this review) or 500GB capacity FreeAgent Go Drive. MSRPs for both the 250GB and 500GB capacity drives are $229.99 and $299.99, respectively.
