Like other Plug-and-play models (such as the Delphi XT), you don’t need to permanently install this in your car. The dash mount kit attaches in minutes. Then you simply snake the antenna wire around to your roof where it magnetically clings and plug in the power cord to your car’s lighter jack. To send the audio signal to your car's radio the XpressR comes with a wire that adheres to your car’s antenna via a clip or a little adhesive strip (for FM antennas embedded in rear windshields). In my car that required a little more worming of cable, but in the end the signal integrity was good, so I really can’t complain. An installed hard-wired option is also available.
Aside from its good looks—glossy black with a bright screen and easy to use dial—what makes the XpressR stand out is its split screen feature. You can divide the screen in half to display the current channel (with artist and track info) as well as the names of five other channels making it easy to switch back and forth. You can even set it to display the tracks those five other channels are playing so when you see another channel is playing a song you want to hear you simply have to press the buttons to switch to it. It’s kind of like having Picture-in-Picture for a satellite radio.
Want to hear a song (or news announcement, sports play … ) again? The XpressR lets you replay a channel up to 30 minutes. It doesn’t save anything permanently, but it’s handy when you missed something because you were in a conversation or just want to hear a favorite song again.
A home kit is also available to you can use it with your home stereo. yy
