The latest feature on the mulitmedia sharing site (www.onetruemedia.com) is a function that allows you to send your content to any series 2 or 3 TiVo, with remarkably little effort on your part.
Once you sign up and open your account, you have a variety of choices. You can create a montage, which can be photos and/or video; a photo book; or a slideshow, which appears to be very similar to a montage and can, in fact, be saved as a montage.
The AJAX-y interface is very easy to navigate and uploading video or photos is a not-too-time-consuming breeze. The site accepts mpeg, mpg, mp4, mov, avi, wmv, 3gp (yup, mobile phone video) and your standard jpeg formats. The site also offers categorized stock content that you can pilfer at will in case you want to practice your mad editing skillz or need some filler so you can use that entire Rush medley.
Once you’ve uploaded your photos/video you can put them all together in ways that are elegant or intensely cheesy. I chose intensely cheesy.
In addition to all the typical photoshop/Ken Burns effect tools, you also have the option of different “effects” that will frame your photos in different ways. And yes, that includes purses with butterfly wings flying through your photo. I didn’t go quite that cheesy.
Instead I used the “night” setting, which gives you a series of skins that frame your photos in different billboards against a number of street scenes (more SNL than Entourage).
Once your montage is complete, it’s time to decide how to share your creation with the world. Will you e-mail it, use the embed code to paste it onto MyFriendsterFacebookBlogspot, link to it, post it on YouTube, add it to OneTrueMedia’s public gallery, put it on your iPod, have OneTrueMedia burn it onto a DVD, or send it to a mobile phone? All of those options are available, but today you’ll TiVo it.
One True Media gives you your own TiVo channel, and once you complete your masterpiece, you can “share” it to that channel. Beware, though. You only get two free shares. After that, you have to pay. With a $39.99 per year subscription, you get five shares per month (they don’t rollover, so use ‘em while they’re hot). You can also purchase “Ten Packs” for $9.95 each that give you ten shares that you can use whenever you want.
