HD Radio has come to the iPhone for the first time, thanks to a new application- requiring use of a special accessory- available only at RadioShack.

According to the Wall Street Journal's Digits blog, the new app is free but the adapter, from Gigaware, costs $80. The adapter can also receive AM and FM radio.

Best Buy introduced the first-ever portable HD radio, under the Insignia brand, earlier this year, while the Microsoft Zune HD has HD Radio built in.
