Amazon this week was sued by Discovery Communications Inc., which claims that the online retailer, with its Kindle device, has infringed upon its technology.

According to Reuters Discovery, which owns the Discovery Channel, alleges that both versions of the Kindle infringe on a patent obtained by Discovery and its founder, John Hendricks, in 2007. The patent involves encryption technology for digital distribution of books.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Delaware.
